Maureen Donnelly

Because I never believed I was good at anything, it was hard for me to accept praise.  But photography gives me pleasure that transcends my low self- esteem.  I consistently receive positive feedback about my composition.  Ironically my lazy eye, the disability that causes me the most pain and grief, is also the disability that enables me to take good photographs.  I only have two-dimensional vision so I see everything as if it were a photograph.   The 3D world this has caused me a lifetime of pain and feelings of inadequacy.   But taking and editing photos gives me a go-to-place where I can feel normal.
My disabilities include deafness, fibromyalgia, and sleep apnea.  These leave me tired and feeling isolated.  I have the beginning of Macular Degeneration which blinded my mother so feel compelled to do as much as I can while I can.  Through a 12-step program, I am continually learning the importance of living in the moment.  My goal is to create beauty while I still can.  I hope that others will find joy in my work.  With my reduced income, I would love the added pleasure of receiving income from what I produce...
