Stephanie Bedell is from Victor, Iowa. She attends the Rural Employment Alternatives Agency in Conroy, Iowa who referred her to our gallery. Stephanie has dealt with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactive disorder) on a daily basis since she was diagnosed at the age of four. She says, “some days my thoughts are perfectly clear, and then a day or two later it's difficult to concentrate on anything or think thoughts that make sense.” She's done artwork throughout her life, but her recent dynamic expressions were fostered by a new art class at the REA agency. These abstracts are created using paint and a scraping tool, and her skill at controlling this technique to create well balanced images is impressive. When asked what her art does for her personally, she says “It gives me a third eye connection that helps me express myself when my ADHD makes it difficult to focus on other things.” Her titles are as interesting as the paintings themselves.
